Abstract
404,749. Knitting. BOOTON, Ltd., W. E., Wanlip Street, Leicester, and COLTON, L. H., 10, Toston Drive, Wollaton Park, Nottingham. Aug. 17, 1932, No. 23025. [Class 74 (ii).] A cellular fabric for use in underwear, &c., is made upon a circular multi-feeder machine by dividing the needles into two sets and providing means for feeding two or more yarns at each feeder. Jacks 12, 13 are provided beneath the two sets of needles, and at one feeder the butt 12a of the jacks 12 only are engaged by a cam 16 so that the corresponding needles take both yarns A<1>, B' supplied by the feeder. At the second feeder, the butts 13a of the jacks 13 only are engaged by a cam 116 so that the corresponding needles take both yarns A<2>, B<2>. In one form of the fabric two yarns A<1>, B<1>, or A<2>, B<2> are knitted at alternate wales in successive courses 1, 2 and one yarn A<1> or A<2> only is knitted at the intervening wales, while at the next two courses 3, 4, two yarns A<3>, B<3> or A<4>, B' are knitted by the needles which previously knitted one yarn only.
