Ltd: Jan. 22, 1953 [Feb. 18, 1952], No. 4301/52: Class 74(2) A cam system for a circular independent needle knitting-machine has a stitch cam 6 obliquely adjustable at the same angle as the operative edge 7 of the cam. The stitch cam and an associated guard cam 11 are fixed to a slide 12 which is slidable in a slot 13 in the wall of the cam box and is biased upwardly by a spring. An adjusting screw co-operates with a lug formed on slide 12 for initially setting.cam 6, and a lever controlled by a peg drum also bears on the lug to adjust automatically the stitch cam as required. The stitch cam may be reversible and differently. contoured at its ends so as to change the position of the knocking- over point when changing, for example, from a 2 x 2 to a 1 x 1 rib fabric.
