Abstract
875,966. Knitting-machines. WULLIMANN, M. Feb. 10, 1959 [Feb. 13, 1958; May 29, 19581, No. 4608/59. Class 74 (2). A central disc 13 is provided on each cam lock of a parallel bed machine and has projections 14, 15 for restricting the pivoting movements of two wing cams 16 under the influence of the needle butts as the cam lock is traversed along the needle bed. The disc 13 is rotatable by a knob on the cam lock to either restrict the pivoting movement of the cams 16 so as to enable them to be operative in either direction of movement of the lock, in which the leading cam 16 raises the needles and the following cam 16 lowers them to cause them to knit, or to permit one or both of the cams to pivot in either or each direction of movement of the cam lock whereby circular knitting can be achieved or a patterned fabric produced. If both cams are free to pivot then the needles remain inoperative. The cams are mounted together with other guiding cams on a plate 5 which is adjustable under the influence of a snail cam 11 controlled by a second knob on the lock to move the plate 5 so as to vary the stitch length.
