Abstract

370,038. Plug cocks. GILES, W. T., 3, Cornwallis Crescent, Clifton, Bristol. Jan. 1, 1931, No. 4. [Class 135.] Locking catches. - In a tap or cock having a locking catch for automatically securing the tap in the closed position and preventing accidental opening, the catch lever 9, Fig. 1 is hinged to a bracket 5 of the tap casing 1 and is provided with a rectangular slot 10 which drops over a corresponding projecting stud 4 of the plug 2 when the plug is turned to the closed position. In another arrangement shown in Fig. 8 the catch lever 9 is pivoted so as to lie below the operating lever 3 of the plug and has a circular aperture 11 embracing the upper part of the plug 2, the aperture having one or more notches 10 to engage a stud 4 projecting from the plug ; in this case the plug can be held in an adjusted open position as well as when closed. The bracket 5 may be integral, as shown, or it may be secured by clamping to the tap casing or inlet connection.
