470,073. Locking valves. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., DIETERICHS, W., and BRUCKLAND, J. Feb. 5, 1936, No. 3536. [Class 135] In control means for gas-fired furnaces and ovens comprising a gas cock and an adjustable damper, the gas cock cannot be opened until the damper has been opened and the damper cannot be closed until the gas cock has been closed. As shown, a pinion 12 carried on the plug of the gas cock 11 meshes with a rack 14 connected by a flexible wire 19 to a plunger 18 slidable in a casing 17 at right-angles to a projection 16 on the damper handle 15. The wire 19 passes through a casing 20 anchored at its ends by caps 21, 22. The gas cock can only be opened after the damper has been opened by movement parallel with the projection 16. Movement of the damper to closed position is then obstructed by the plunger 18 which must first be removed by closure of the gas cock. The gas cock is also interlocked with a pilot gas tap 23 by the usual mutilated discs so that the pilot tap must be opened first.
