Abstract

256,465. Yates, H. J., Howlett & Co., Ltd., M., and Dolphin, J. Jan. 2, 1926. Handles ; locking.-A tap or cock, useful for gas stoves, comprises a plug provided with a lever arm or bracket 10 carrying a pivoted operating handle 11 which hangs down, as shown in Fig. 1, when the cock is closed. In this position the cock is locked against accidental re-opening, by the engagement of the jaw 13 in a notch 16 in the casing flange 15. The cock is released by raising the handle, and when the cock is opened the handle is held raised, as shown in Fig. 6, by the engagement of the flange 15 with the notch 14 in the jaw of the handle.
