Abstract

281,103. South Metropolitan Gas Co., and Chandler, D. Dec. 18, 1926. Locking. -- Locking means for gas taps comprises a gravity-actuated pin 1 slidably mounted in the operating handle 2 and adapted to drop automatically into a. hole 6 in a fixed plate, such as 5, when the tap is turned to the closed position. In the arrangement shown the fixed plate 5 is formed integral with the casing 3 and is of cup-shape form; this provides a shield which prevents accidental actuation of the tap, and also prevents the pin from dropping out during actuation of the tap. A head 4 on the pin limits the travel of the pin into locking position.
