Abstract

498,321. Latching switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., SEARLE, A. F., and WARNER, R. July 13, 1937, No. 19399. [Class 38 (v)] A switch operated by a lever, especially a " fireman's switch,'' for use with neon signs &c., is provided with a spring plunger device which prevents the switch from being accidentally opened after closing. For this purpose, the plunger 14 is housed in a projection 13 on the cover 2 of the switch-casing and projects into the path of a projection 11 on the operating-lever 10. The projection 11 is bevelled at 17 so that it can ride over the plunger 14 when the switch is closed. The plunger can be retracted by a handle 16 when it is desired to open the switch.
