Abstract

228,965. Taylor, A. B. Oct. 11, 1923. Switches, actuating. - A tumbler or other switch D mounted with the tumbler lever askew on the frame of a door within a room to control the lights therein is operated by the engagement therewith of a flap B<1> mounted to fold in one way only on a lever B pivoted within a casing secured to the door. On entering the room and closing the door, the switch may be moved by hand to the " on " position shown in dotted lines. When the door is opened the flap rides idly over the tumbler knob, but when the door is closed again the flap drives the tumbler to the " off " position. In order to allow of the door being closed again without switching off the light, the lever B may be lifted about its pivot a and moved sidewise slightly so that it is retained by a ledge of the slot a<2>, Fig,. 2, in the casing through which it passes, against the returning action of springs. In this position the lever does not engage the tumbler in closing the door, but in the finally closing movement a cam projection E on the frame releases the lever B so that when the door is again opened and closed the switch will be opened.
