Abstract
1,193,933. Opening and closing lift doors. EXPRESS LIFT CO. Ltd. 2 April, 1969 [29 April, 1968], No. 20207/68. Heading B8L. The cage and landing doors 8, 24, of a lift, Figs. 1, 2, are operated by an electric motor 1, a lever 3 and a resilient telescopic linkage 5, 6, the latter ensuring that both doors close fully despite mis-alignment of the cage and landing door stops. The door 8 is opened when the lever 3 is rotated anti-clockwise through 180 degrees. During this movement a cam 21 moves a hook 19 into engagement with a projection 18 so that in the first part of the door closing movement, when the lever 3 is turning clockwise, the telescopic member 5, 6 is effectively solid. When the door is approximately half closed the hook 19 is disengaged from the projection 18 and if the door is now obstructed the continued movement of the lever 3 draws the rod 5 out of the tube 6 against the spring 17 until a roller 14 has moved from the end of the rod 5, where it normally rests, to the top of the rod. This disconnects the linkage between the door 8 and the lever 3. If the lever 3 reaches the door closed position and the door is still open the lever automatically repeats the opening and closing cycle. The landing door 24 is coupled to the cage door by vanes 22, 23 which engage either side of rollers 35, Fig. 2, on a pivoted hook plate 31, which engages a projection 33 to hold the door closed. When the cage door 8 starts to open, the vane 23 is allowed to descend by links 25, Fig. 1, 30, 28, which are released by a finger 26 on the lever 3, to engage the rollers 35 on the landing door thereby disengaging the hook plate 31. The landing door is now pushed open by the vane 22. During closing the vane 23 pushes the landing door. If the landing door closes before the cage door, the latter stops until such time as the vane 23 is disconnected from the cage door by the finger 26 on the lever 3. The spring 17 then completes the closing movement. In a modification, the hook 19 and projection 18 may be replaced by an adjustable spring- loaded device.
