Machine guns.-Gasoperated guns have the tapped gases directed on to a cupshaped gas piston 4 by a tapered member 5 which may be of solid form, Fig. 1. or bored to form either a guide for the piston rod Fig. 2, or a nozzle for the gases, Fig. 3.
