439,420. Taps or cocks. VALLON, C. N., Permureda, Pinhoe, WILLEY & CO., Ltd., both in Exeter, and UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES, Ltd., 51, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London. May 22, 1934, No. 15332. [Class 135] A gas tap or cock comprises a rotatable plug a mounted within a concentric sleeve b which is rotatably mounted within the cock body c, the sleeve b being held locked to the body by a catch d when the plug a is in its closed position but being released when the plug is turned to its open position, Fig. 4, by the engagement of the edge a<2> of the butterfly head a<1> with the part d<2> of the catch. When the catch is released the sleeve can be turned by means of the flange b<1> so that the holes b<3> in the sleeve are brought into line with the passage a<3> in the plug and the ports c<3>, the tap then being opened. Reverse movement of the plug to close the tap returns the sleeve to its closed position by reason of the engagement of the pin against the end wall of the slot i, which allows relative movement between the plug and the sleeve of about 90‹, where it is again locked, a spring-presed segment f of the plug pressing the catch d, which is pivoted on the sleeve, to engage the slot e in the body.
