Abstract
426,801. Interlocking taps or cocks. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., RAMSAY, J., and NOBLE, T. G., 84, Horseferry Road, London. Oct. 11, 1933, No. 28092. [Class 135] An interlocking tap arrangement particularly for gas-heated devices consists of a main tap 4 and a pilot tap 5 both controlling a common through passage 3 with the pilot tap preceding the main tap, coacting members 8, 9 being provided on the taps to prevent opening of the main tap until the pilot tap has been opened. The member 8 is cut away at both sides 13 of the open position to allow it to be used for either right or left handed fixing. The pilot tube 14 may be mounted as an integral unit with the main tap 4 which has a passage way cut therein to allow gas to pass to the pilot tube when the tap 5 is opened but the tap 4 closed. Alternatively, a passage to the pilot tube is cut in the casing and extends part way around the plug 4. The member 9 may be formed of eccentric shape with a projection 16 thereon adapted to engage a part 17 on the member 8 so that operation of the tap 5 when both taps are open causes both taps to be turned rapidly to a position giving a minimum gas flow.
