290,745. Lambert, A. J. Feb. 21. 1927. Interlocking.-An interlocking safety arrangement for the gas and water taps of water heaters and the like for preventing the opening of the gas tap before the water tap is opened comprises a screw-down water tap, and a rotary plug gas tap 14; a perforated disc 17 is fixed to the spindle of the water tap which is also fitted with a bracket arm 18 positioned adjustably in relation to the disc 17 by a screw-pin 20 engaging one or other of the perforations 21. The outer end of the arm 18 is formed with an L-shaped, or U. shaped, or other member 19 adapted to lie adjacent the flat finger piece 16 of the gas tap, as shown, when the water tap and the gas tap are both closed. A heel piece 22 on the member 19 is adapted to contact the edge of the finger piece 16 to prevent the bracket arm from being turned beyond the interlocking position; with water taps having flexible washers if this position does not correspond with the tightly-closed position due to wear of the washers, adjustment at the perforations is required. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 the bracket arm is spring- pressed towards the perforated disc and the locating pin 31 in the arm 18 engages automatically in the perforations after adjustment.
