Abstract

396,731. Two-part couplings combined with switches. ELLIOTT & GARROOD, Ltd., Ingate Iron Works, Beccles, Suffolk, and GARROOD, H. J., 19, Royal Avenue, Lowestoft. Feb. 3, 1932, No. 3260. [Class 38 (i).] A device for interlocking an electric switch with a detachable coupling in the line controlled by the switch is so arranged that the coupling cannot be detached with the switch closed nor the switch closed with the coupling detached. The Figure shows the invention applied to a plug cock and detachable pipe coupling. The plug 10 is provided with a manipulating handle 33 and with a locking plate 32 formed with a flat part and a curved projecting part adapted to co-operate with a similar plate 26 rotatably mounted in the casing on an axis at right-angles to that of the plate 32. The plate 26 is held in a recess 23 in the casing by a cover-plate 27 and is provided with sockets adapted to receive fingers on a rotatable part of the coupling, said fingers passing through arcuate slots in the cover. When applied to an electric switch the detachable plug has pins adapted to engage bayonet slots in a.fixed part and is secured in a sleeve provided with pins for engagement with the locking plate 26.
