Actuating-mechanism; locking.-A self-locking actuating device for plug cocks comprises a combined handle and pivot pin wholly within the catch - lever 7 pivotally mounted on the plug with the pivoled pin wholly within the cock casing, as shown. An arcuate slot 9 is formed in the end face of the casing 1 and its end walls form stops engaging the part 13 of the catch lever to define the open and closed positions of the cock. A locking-recess formed below the axis of the catch-lever engages the catch-projection 14 automatically when the lever 7 is turned to the closed position and released. The catch-projection 14 rides upon the end face of the cock casing except in the closed position.
