Abstract
464,898. Locking gas-taps. BLISS, L. Sept. 22, 1936, No. 25734. [Class 135] A locking device for gas taps of the kind adapted to be detachably mounted on the tap body or associated piping is constructed from a single length of more or less springy wire or strip which is bent intermediate its ends into a form suitable for engagement with the handle or actuating head of the cock and at its ends is bent into hook-like parts adapted to engage the inlet and outlet branches of the tap or the pipes connected thereto. In the form shown the intermediate part of the wire is shaped after the manner of the common gridiron C, the inner limbs being arranged sufficiently far apart to form a locking recess D. These limbs may be spaced so as to grip the handle lightly-when in position. The hooks E also may engage frictionally with the casing to hold the device in its adjusted position. In a modification the centre of the " gridiron " is formed in the shape of a square adapted to be sprung over the actuating projection of the gas cock when in the turned off position.
