Abstract

191,685. Howden & Co., Ltd., J., and Hume, C. W. July 12, 1922. Locking catches.-In a burner fitting of the type in which the burner is readily removable, the oil supply cock handle 1 carries by means of a pivoted arm 2 a cover 3 which prevents operation of the burner release screw 4 except when the cock is closed. A pin and slot connection 10 may be provided between the arm 2 and the handle 1 to permit a certain amount of lost motion. The arm 2 rides over the cock spindle 7 and one of the gland studs 8 may be extended to prevent the cover from being lifted after the handle has passed its mid-position. Alternatively, the cock may be arranged to close when the handle is in its mid-position. When the release screw 4 has been turned to permit withdrawal of the burner it prevents operation of the cock handle by engagement with the cover 3. In a modified form in which the releasescrew is fitted with a hand-wheel the cover consists of a recessed plate which is raised by a projection on the lever when the valve is closed.
