Abstract

169,205. Barber, F. P. May 20, 1920. Manually-actuated multiple-way valves. - A mixing-valve for hot and cold water is adapted, when the actuating handle is turned, to supply first cold water, then warm water, and finally hot water. A casing a is provided with inlet passages b, c, for hot and cold water respectively, and a mixing chamber d is controlled by valves f<1> and f<2> mounted on a bridge member f which is moved by the spindle g. The hot water valve is provided with a projection f<x> which fits into the valve port, and the cold water valve carries a second closure member c<3>. When the handle i is operated, the cold water valve f<2> is first opened, the projection f<x> still closing the hot water port. A further movement of the handle opens the hot water port while the cold water port is still open, so that the hot and cold water are mixed, and a still further movement closes the lower valve c<3> on its seat and so cuts off the cold water. An indicating pointer i<1> may be provided on the handle.. Specification 19015/99 is referred to.
