Abstract

288,392. Blakeborough, R. A., and Blakeborough, J. B. Jan. 27, 1927. Valves closing after predetermined interval or flow. - A slow closing valve c<2> is opened by a hand lever d acting on a press button c<1> and is, closed by inlet pressure, admitted through a longituc<3> dinal groove c<4> on the periphery of a piston c<3>, acting on the back of the piston. The piston is fitted with a ball non-return valve f arranged in a chamber c<5> communicating with the inlet passage to relieve the pressure at the back of the piston when opening the valve. The single groove c<4> may be replaced by a series of grooves adapted to be successively blanked off as the valve, approaches its seat. In a modification, the ball valve is housed in a passage in the casing and the valve member is mounted in a suction chamber carried by the actuating spindle.
