Abstract

561,267. Valves. TEBBS, A. L., and NICHOLLS, S. P. Oct. 6, 1942, No. 13985. [Class 135] A screw-down valve of the kind provided in domestic and other water installations has a valve washer g separate from the actuating spindle, backed by a wear resisting plate f and housed in a removable cage a, the bottom of which forms the valve seat. The seat is provided with a central inlet port c surrounded by a series of outlet ports all of which ports are adapted to be closed by the washer when the actuating spindle is screwed down. The cage, which is held in place by the usual detachable bonnet, is formed with a spigot l adapted to engage the usual seat aperture in the valve body with a surrounding packing washer k engaging the seat. The cage also has a pair of diametrically opposed holes e to facilitate its removal.
