Safety valves. -A safety valve of the kind described in the parent Specification is provided with means to permit the discharge of water which may be deposited in or carried into the chamber below the pilot valve. A spindle 20 pivoted to the pilot valve 8 has a rounded lower end 24, and when the pilot valve is on its seat 10 and the actuating piston 9 on its rest 18 this end is held clear of an aperture 25 in the end of the piston to permit water to drain through passage 25 and traverse passages 26. As the piston is forced upward by excessive pressure to open the pilot valve, the drain passage 25 is closed. Specification 286,580 is referred to.
