Abstract
391,289. Hydraulic rams. BLAKE, H. V., Dykenook Lodge, Accrington. Feb. 27, 1932, No. 5872. [Class 102 (ii).] A pulse valve for an hydraulic ram has one or more springs arranged between the valve member and seat to ensure prompt opening. In the form shown in the Figure a simple lift valve a having a spindle b slidable in a guide c<2> has the valve head recessed to provide a housing for a spring d. The tension of the spring is adjusted by inserting one or more washers between the spring and valve member. In a modification an annular lift valve connected by arms to a sleeve slidably mounted on a fixed spindle has the springs arranged with the central hole in the valve member between the valve seat and a shoulder on the guide. In a further modification a rubber or rubber composition valve is slidably mounted on a fixed spindle and has a series of loading springs housed in recesses in the valve member and seat.
