Abstract
521,783. Hydraulic rams. BLAKE, Ltd., J., and WARREN, F. Feb. 16, 939, No. 5037. [Class 102 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] A waste valve for hydraulic rams and similar apparatus comprises a main closure member adapted to move into and away from its seat, said closure being formed with an annular aperture or apertures or ring or rings of apertures adapted to be closed by a subsidiary resilient disc secured centrally to the main closure. In the form shown in the figure the main closure a is formed integrally with a pivoted guide cage n slidably mounted on a seating ring b and is adjustably secured to a spindle a<SP>1</SP> adapted in the open position of the valve to engage a buffer. This buffer comprises a cylinder k slidably mounted on a fixed pin i with an interposed rubber cushion h. The subsidiary disc d is mounted on a barrel-shaped extension of the hub of the main closure. A resilient seating for the main closure may be formed by a ring clamped between the ring b and the casing or an outer flanged ring. In a modification the spindle a<SP>1</SP> is extended and slides in a fixed socket to guide the main closure, the cage n being then omitted. In this form a resilient ring is mounted between a collar on the spindle and the end of the guide socket to form a buffer.
