793,724. Fluid-actuated valves. CRAMPTON, A. O. Nov. 14, 1955 [Nov. 15, 1954], No. 32485/55. Class 135. A pressure regulating and check valve comprises a hollow valve body 10, Fig. 1, carrying an internal, axially extending knife-edge seat 21 with a knife-edge at its end 23, Fig. 4, a flat disc 11 biased on to the seat by a spring 12, a crenellated valve guide sleeve 13 provided with a medial valve shoulder stop 35 surrounding the piston and spring and a cylindrical casing 14 surrounding the sleeve, the seat being provided with a shallow annular groove 24 around its external surface for receiving a resilient ring 34. With clear fluids, the disc seats on the knife edge, but with sediment-carrying fluids the ring is placed in the groove and protrudes above the edge to provide a resilient seat.
