Abstract

367,061. Dashpots. AUBERT, J., 41, Rue des Thermes, Enghien-les-Bains, Seineet-Oise, France. Nov. 25, 1930; No. 35508. Convention date, April 29. [Class 108 (iii).] A one-way dashpot controlling the opening, but not the closing, of a throttle valve comprises a piston 564 on a rod 563 connected to a shaft (not shown) operating the valve to be controlled. The piston has large apertures 566 and is provided with a spring - loaded valve 569 having a small leak. The throttle is normally opened and closed by a fluid-pressure cylinder (not shown) and when it is thus opened by fluid pressure, a pipe 575 is also open to pressure and a plunger valve 574 is held on its seat so as to close communication between the ends of the dashpot cylinder 565 through passages 570, 572, 571. When the throttle is being opened the rod 563 and piston 564 are lowered and the fluid in the lower part of the cylinder must pass through the leak in the valve 569. When the throttle is being closed, the piston rises and the valve 569 opens, thus allowing free movement of the piston. If the throttle is opened by hand, there is no pressure in the pipe 575 and fluid passes from the lower part of the cylinder to the upper part past the valve 574.
