Abstract

528,827. Fluid-actuated valves. MERKER & CO. AKT.-GES. May 16, 1939, No. 14537. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1938. [Class 135] A liquid deficiency valve for gas-heated liquid heaters is provided with an additional valve element adapted to supply additional gas to the pilot burner before the valve controlling the supply to the main burner is 'opened. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the rod 11 actuated by a diaphragm subject to the pressure in the liquid conduit has a reduced part 16 adapted when opposite the conduit 8 to supply gas to the pilot burner 10 in addition to that arriving through the narrow port 7. The main gas valve is also actuated by the rod 11 and comprises a member 2 adapted to co-operate with an outer seat and an inner spring-loaded member 20 adapted be moved away from its seat by a shoulder 22 after a continued movement of the rod. In a modification the two main valve elements are replaced by a single element having a cylindrical extension passing into the seat aperture.
