[Class 135] A gas valve for a gas water heater, of the kind in which the valve is controlled by the flow of water through a venturi tube, has the latter formed in two parts, one part 6 including the throat being integral with its housing, and the other part 9, being made separately.. The part 9, which is attached to the casing by a nut 12 is so dimensioned as to provide a gap 17 whereby water pressure at the throat is transmitted to a diaphragm 4 for actuating the valve. Instead of the gap 17 between the parts 9 and 6, the parts may be adapted to be held in contact whilst slots are milled in the end of either or both of the parts to provide water passages.
