Abstract
589,762. Preventing leakage. COCKBURNS, Ltd., RODGER, J., and GRANT, T. April 2, 1945, No. 8156. [Class 135] In a sluice valve of the type comprising a twin-faced valve member 10 carried on an arm 11 and adapted to be swung into and out of register with an orifice bounded by twin valve seats, the actuating rock spindle 12 carries a sealing sleeve 15 of rubber &c. which is clamped at one end to the spindle and at the other end to the valve chest or to an extension therefrom. The sleeve is formed with a flange 16 by which it can be clamped to the valve chest by a gland ring 17 attached by studs &c., and the other end is clamped to the spindle by a metallic ring 18.
