Abstract
521,017. Fluid - actuated valves. BUTZKEWERKE AKT.-GES., and CALLSEN, C. Nov. 9, 1938. No. 32553. [Class. 135] [Also in Group XIII] In a water heater wherein a safety device cutting off the gas supply when the water supply is insufficient comprises a spring-returned gas valve 31 connected by a rod 33 to a flexible diaphragm 29 moved to open the valve when water flows through a pipe 24 with a tap 25 and throttle 27 to 'the inlet 13, the gas valve being closed by the spring when water supply ceases, a lever 38 is provided operable by hand to lift the rod 33 or directly to open the valve 31 'to admit gas at will to the burner. In place of the lever a spring-returned press button formed at its inner edge as a wedge may engage the bottom of the rod 33 to lift it. Alternatively, the,valve 31 may be bye-passed by a gas pipe 45, and a spring-returned valve 46 therein may be opened by a press button 47. When the lever or button is released, 'the safety device again controls the gas supply.
