[Class 135] A device for controlling the gas and water supplies to a gas-operated water heater comprises a screw-down lift valve 6 for the water supply, the spindle 3a of which loosely carries a fork member 17 which engages a nut or other adjustable abutment 16 on the spindle 11 of a spring closed gas valve 9 so that the water valve is opened before and closed after the gas valve. The valve 6 controls the hot water supply from the heater. A similar valve controls the supply of cold water to a common outlet 3.
