460,779. Multiple-way valves. CHAPMAN, F. W., and OMNIA MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Aug. 3, 1935, No. 22069. [Class 135] In a gas-heated water heater, the gas and water valves are actuated by a cross-head carrying adjustable abutments adapted to engage the valves to permit of their being actuated in different time relationship. In a casing 10 are housed a water valve 11 and a gas valve 12 of the spring-loaded poppet type so arranged that passage of fluid tends to close the valves. A crosshead 15 is adapted to slide over a square part 7 of a member 17 fixed to the casing, and having a screw-threaded part on which a member 16 with handle 18 may be rotated. A light spring 24 may be inserted below the cross-head which is provided with adjustable screwthreaded abutments 21, 22 having lock nuts 23. The adjustment is such that the water valve is opened first. The usual pilot jet is located on a pipe 25 connected to the gas-valve chamber 26. A gas cock 27 on the supply pipe 28 has a safety device in the form of an arm 29 which, when the valves 11, 12 are open, is prevented from being moved. The water outlet to the heater is at 32. Where a separate cock is provided for the pilot jet, it may be interlocked with the handle 18 or member 16.
