Safety device for gas-fired water heaters The invention
relates to a safety device for gas-fired water heaters, in which
two separate gas lines lead to the pilot burner head, one of which is constantly
connected to the main gas supply as well as manually controllable as ignition gas line
serves and the other, which is used as the control gas line from the pressurized. mern of the gas pressure controlled
Adjusting member for the Haüptgasveritil goes off and the outlet end by one of
the pilot flame bee: in fl uenced control element when the pilot flame is open or when
extinguished pilot flame is kept closed, also one of the water supply
contains le-influenced valve for controlling the main gas valve. It is then that
Opening the main gas valve or the possibility of supplying gas to the main burner,
made dependent on the burning pilot flame and the flow of a stream of water.
According to the invention, the two are from the gas valve housing to the pilot burner head
leading gas lines a manually operated, the pilot burner head carrying
Control member, e.g. B. a cock plug, switched on, which the ignition gas line constantly,
however, the control gas line only keeps open when the pilot burner head is connected to the main burner
is swung in. It can then be used in a manner known per se for other devices
the pilot flame can be ignited at an easily manageable place after the shut-off
the ignition gas line only continues to burn with the water supply switched off if the pilot burner
is swiveled towards the main burner. When switching on the water supply, then
the main gas valve opened if the pilot flame is still burning. By turning off the
Water supply or by pivoting the pilot burner away from the main burner, whereby
the possibly still burning pilot flame is extinguished, becomes the main gas valve
closed again without a main shut-off valve being closed in front of the device
got to.

brennerkopf i an den eigentlichen Hauptbi "
Betrieb gesetzt. The two leading to the pilot burner head i and coming from the pressure chambers o, u in the main gas valve housing lines a and 3 lead to a tap housing q. In which a plug 5 is rotatably mounted. The plug 5 is designed so that the line a is always connected to the channel z ', regardless of the position in which the plug is rotated with the aid of the handle 6. On the other hand, the line 3 is only connected to the channel 3 'when the plug is in a very specific position, and only when the ignition :, 51 burner head i to the actual main bi "
ner of the device, not shown,
has been pivoted. As a result of this
Jung can ignite the pre-ignition flame in any position of the pilot burner = ° head, i.e. also in the swiveled-out position, by pushing in the sliding piston 7 (Fig. 2) and causing the heat-sensitive plate 8, which controls the outlet opening of the control gas line 3 ', to deflect will. The depressed piston 7 connects by means of its longitudinal bore 14 the line 13 coming from the pressure chamber u with the ignition gas line 2 and with the pressure chamber o. If, however, the displaceable piston 7 is released again so that it slides back into the position shown in FIG the pilot flame will go out again despite the bulging of the plate 8 that occurred as a result of the heating, if the pilot burner is not swiveled towards the main burner and therefore the gas duct 3 is not connected to the duct 3 'due to the special ducting in the plug 5. If, on the other hand, the piston 7 is pushed in (Fig. 2), the pilot flame is ignited and then the plug 5 is turned with the help of the handle 6 until the pilot burner head i is on the main burner, then the channel 3 is connected to the channel 3 'and it burns even after the sliding piston 7 has snapped back - keep the pilot flame on. The water slide is still in the position according to FIG. I, so that gas flows into line 3 from chambers o and rc. If the faucet is now turned on and the slide TV influenced by the water flow comes into the position shown in FIG. 2, the line 3 only receives gas from the chamber o Lift valve disk 1.2 against the action of spring ii from its seat so that gas now flows from inlet E to outlet D of the valve housing and to the main burner. This ignites at the pilot flame fed by line 3 '. The capacity of the chamber o is to be selected so large that the line 3 is fed for a long enough time to ignite the main burner. If the pilot flame goes out before the main gas valve is opened, the outlet opening of the control gas line 3 'is shut off so that the pressure control chamber o cannot be vented and the main gas valve "'. when adjusting the water slide
@ -h TV does not open.
# After you have lit the main burner,
'yrs the pilot burner is swiveled back by turning the plug, the supply line 3 is interrupted and no more gas can flow out of the line 3'. A still burning pilot flame will go out and the valve 8 will close, so that adjusting the water slide W will not cause the main gas valve to open. The pilot flame can thus be ignited at a local point and then swiveled to the burner, which is often difficult to access. In addition, after releasing the displaceable piston 7, that is to say when the device is idle, the pilot flame only continues to burn when the water supply is shut off if it is swiveled towards the main burner. The entire device is put out of operation by swiveling the pilot burner head back away from the main burner, whereby a burning pilot flame is extinguished.
