Abstract
347,390. Combinations of interdependent valves. EWART, J. H., 346, Euston Road, London. March 4, 1930, No. 7088. [Class 135.] A valve device for controlling the gas and water supplies to a water heater in which the gas and water valves are interlocked has the plug 6 controlling the supply to the pilot jet 7 mounted in the plug 4 controlling the supply to the main burner, the two valves being actuated by a single handle 8 movable in planes at right angles. The gas cock is looked in the closed position by the handle 8 engaging behind a projection 13 on the main casing. On moving the handle to the horizontal position to clear the projection the pilot cock is opened but the handle cannot be moved to open the main cock until the handle 16 of the water cock is moved to open the water valve. In the open position the handle 8 is held in the raised position by the projection 13 and so prevents the return of the handle 16 until the gascock is turned off. In the form shown the handle is bifurcated and secured to the plug 6 by nuts 11, but the handle may pass through a slot in the casing and screw directly into the plug.
