Abstract

208,015. Randall, F. Dec. 22, 1922. Lift valves; leakage, preventing and discharging. - A screwdown tap or cock for water and the like has the stuffing - box arranged in a separate block between the valve member and the screwed portion of the spindle to prevent access of liquid to the latter. The cap 6 is threaded at 4 to receive the spindle 1, and is screwed on to a block 10 and secured by a screw 12. The block 10 is screwed into the body of the tap, and carries a stuffing- box 16 which prevents access of the liquid to the threaded portion 3 of the spindle. A drain hole 17 is provided in the cap 6.
