Abstract

221,993. Doulton & Co., Ltd., and Walker, G. Nov. 7,1923. Waste-preventing valves; dashpots, applications of. - A self-closing non-concussive lavatory tap has a main lift valve member P opened by means of a push M and closed by a spring R and by fluid flowing through and ports G, K in a piston F secured to the valve. The piston works in a cylinder B screwed into an extension A<1> of the inlet fitting so as to leave an annular passage communicating by ports C with the inside of the cylinder. The piston has an annular groove D and the cylinder has an enlarged bore H so that when the valve and piston are depressed water may pass through the ports C, ard groove D to the central passage G and thence through the main valve to the outlet. Above the supporting flange E of the cylinder the piston is provided with a plate J having a sliding fit in the main casing so that as the valve closes a vacuum is formed beneath the plate to retard the closing movement.
