Abstract
29,168. Shanks, J. Dec. 28. Lift valves; actuating.-A valve E, adapted to be opened by fluid pressure when the pressure above the valve is released by an auxiliary valve 0 operated by a float, is provided with guides F entering the seat aperture, and with passages K, I, the latter of which is controlled by a screw valve J. The water from the inlet B passes through the apertures K, I into the chamber above the valve E and keeps the valve seated. When the float (not shown) falls, the valve 0 is opened and the water above the valve E escapes, allowing the valve to open by the pressure of the water in the inlet B. A spring M assists the closing of the valve.
