509,685. Stow - closing valves. BRITISHTHOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 23, 1939, No. 2303. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1938. [Class 135] A slow - closing valve particularly adapted for controlling the flow of pressure gas for the operation of electric switches comprises a lift valve member 4 secured to one end of a bellows 9 urged in the valve closing direction by an internal spring 8. When the valve is opened by depressing the spindle 6 pressure gas from the inlet 2 acts . on the outside of the bellows to hold the valve in the open position. Gas from the outlet passes through an adjustable throttle 10, passage 11, and openings 12 to the inside of the bellows gradually building up the pressure therein. When the pressures inside and outside the bellows are equalised the spring 8 closes the valve. In a modification the bellows is arranged on the outlet side of the valve.
