[Class 135] [See also Group XXXVII] The operation of a valve 12 or an electric switch is controlled by a fluid-pressure actuated diaphragm 4 which is secured in position by means of the casing 5 of a valve regulating the flow of pressure fluid to one side of the diaphragm. An inlet pipe 6 is rotatably mounted in the casing 5 and has a threaded part which is screwed into a hole in a water-inlet pipe 2. A constricted opening 15 causing a drop in pressure connects the inlet pipe 2 to the outlet pipe 3, which is connected to the chamber above the diaphragm 4 by a passage 16. A plate 8 with an aperture 7 is fitted in the upper part of the casing 5, the aperture 7 being closed by a valve-member 9 when water is flowing in the pipe 2 so that the flow of water to the underside of the diaphragm takes place only through a small aperture 10 in the member 9 and therefore opening of the controlled valve 12 is retarded. When the flow of water ceases, the valve 9 drops from the opening 7 and is spaced from the end of the pipe 6 so that water can flow readily from below the diaphragm, and the controlled valve is closed rapidly.
