Abstract

506,591. Screw - actuated valves. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., and LLOYD, P. Nov. 30, 1937, No. 33014. [Class 135] A screw-actuated lift valve comprises a flatfaced valve member 6 attached to a screwed stem 5, a removable flat annular valve seating 9, a scale 17 surrounding the stem and mounted beneath a controlling knob 7 attached to the stem, and a pointer 19 movable over the scale by the knob 7. The valve member 6 is of disc form, and the valve seating is formed integrally with a threaded connection bush 8 screwed into the valve casing 1 up to a flange 10 and serving as the inlet or outlet of the cock. A lateral extension 13 of the valve casing has a flared opening 14 in which an outlet bush 15 is secured by a union 16. The maximum flow may be adjusted by means of interchangeable bushes 8 with different sized apertures.
