Abstract

241,299. Turner, E., (trading as Turner & Co., E.). July 22, 1924. Fluid-actuated valves. -A flow controller particularly adapted for maintaining an equable working pressure in blowers of the non-positive or fan type has a butterfly valve actuated by a diaphragm acting through a screw and nut mechanism. The valve member a is mounted on a spindle d and co-operates with the sides of the conduit so as to throttle the passage way in the event of the pressure either rising above or falling below the normal. The upper end of the spindle is formed with a screw thread e adapted to engage a nut-like member j secured by a bolt k to the reinforcing plates i of the actuating diaphragm. The spindle is made a loose fit in the casing to allow conduit pressure to pass to the actuating chamber or a separate passage q may be provided. The valve member may be bevelled or faced with leather and cooperate with a rib in the conduit. According to the Provisional Specification a piston may replace the diaphragm and the actuating member may act through bevel gearing or links, levers, &c. The butterfly valve may be replaced by a ported cvlindrical valve.
