Pressure-regulating valves.-A pressure-regulating valve having a differential piston 4<1>, 4<2> arranged to work in a cylindrical member 2<1> depending from the cover 2 of an enlarged part of the casing 1<6> is controlled by an auxiliary valve f actuated by a piston k subject to reduced pressure. A passage a<1> leading to the main actuating chamber a is connected by a pipe b to a chamber c<1> in the auxiliary valve casing c. The cylindrical auxiliary valve f has an annular groove f<1> and works in a liner having ports d, e leading to the chamber c<1> and to an inlet pipe i controlled by a cock h and a port c<3> leading to a chamber c<2> connected by a pipe g to the outlet side of the main valve. The auxiliary valve is connected by a lever j to the plunger k which is loaded by weights so that when the reduced pressure rises, the valve f is moved downward so as to admit inlet pressure to the actuating chamber and thus close the main valve. When the pressure falls, the valve rises and connects the actuating chamber to the outlet side of the main valve or to exhaust. In a modification the piston valve f is replaced by two spring loaded lift valves actuated by a common spindle.
