Abstract

Actuating; lift valves.-A lift valve, of the type actuated by fluid pressure under the control of an auxiliary valve operated by any suitable means and adapted to engage a seat on the main valve, has the auxiliary valve yieldingly mounted in a cavity in the end of the control spindle. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the main valve C is rigidly connected to an actuating-piston D' provided with an adjustable leakage port M connecting the inlet A' to the space behind the piston. The auxiliary valve, which controls a port H leading from the space behind the piston to the outlet A<2>, comprises a disk H<1> provided with a leather face H' and slidably held in a cavity H<4> in the control spindle by a screwed collar J<1>. The valve member is normally held against the collar J' by a spring J<3> arranged in the recess H<4>, which is provided with a small relief port. Modifications are described in which the adjustable leakage port is in the casing and in a separate pipe connexion respectively.
