Abstract
270,017. Liversidge, E. W. Feb. 9, 1926. Pressure-regulating valves.-A reducing-valve actuated by the inlet and outlet pressures acting on a differential piston has the piston rod connected to the valve spindle by a pivoted lever. The valve member A is of double conical form and is guided by fixed spiders to work with a slight clearance in a constricted part of the main conduit and is connected by a lever B with the rod. C of a piston C<1>. The lever normally oscillates on a spindle B' which has a key b' engaging an elongated slot in the lever so that the spindle and lever may be rotated by an external handle to test the apparatus. The piston C' is subject to inlet pressure admitted through a passage a<3> The end of the piston rod extends into a chamber c<2> normally open to atmosphere through a passage c<3>. A relief valve may be fitted to the passage c<3> and a bye-pass c' controlled by a valve c<5> arranged to admit fluid from the inlet to the chamber c' and so modify the working of the apparatus. A valve controlled bye-pass may be arranged between the inlet and the outlet. A balanced valve may replace the valve A.
