Pressure - regulating valves. - A pressure regulator of the kind controlled by an auxiliary valve has the main valve so arranged that it is closed against the action of a spring by low pressure when the auxiliary valve closes an exhaust outlet. The main double beat valve b is connected by a spindle c to an actuating diaphragm d<3> backed by a packed piston d and is loaded to open by a spring g acting through a bolt g<1> and lever f<2>. The spindle c is also connected by a lever f<3> to a dashpot suspended by a rod f<3> from a lug f<4>. The auxiliary valve h<1> balanced by a piston h<2> is connected by a spindle j to an actuating diaphragm. l<1> backed by a piston k and adjustably loaded by a spring n acting through a bolt n<1> and lever n<2>. This lever is fitted with an adjustable stop t and the adjustable abutment for the spring is provided with an indicator v working in conjunction with a scale v<1>. The auxiliary valve has an actuating chamber i<2> to which low pressure is admitted through a pipe q, a chamber i<1> connected to the actuating chamber f<1> of the main valve through a pipe p<1> and to the low pressure side of the main valve through a pipe p throttled by a valve p<2> and a chamber i connected by a pipe r to drain or atmosphere.
