397,439. Fluid-actuated valves. SCHWEIZERISCHE, LOKOMOTIV & MASCHINENFABRIK, Winterthur, Switzerland. May 5, 1933, No. 13144. Convention date, May 6, 1932. [Class 135.] A fluid-pressure regulator is controlled by an auxiliary valve comprising a ball d, held so as to close the passage f by a piston b carrying a predetermined adjustable load c, the arrangement being such that the valve opens at a certain pressure in the pipe h and closes at a certain lower pressure. The piston b may also be loaded by gas or hydraulic pressure or by centrifugal means actuated by the regulator. The valve seat e may be replaceable to obtain different diameter passages f. The ball fits closely in a recess g in the valve seat so that the piston is raised at once to its full extent.
