Pressure-regulating valves.-A pressure-regulator is actuated by hydraulic pressure produced by alternately connecting the space above the liquid in a closed reservoir to the high and low pressure sides of the main valve. In the form shown in the Figure the ported tubular main valve 18 is directly connected to a spring-loaded piston 16 subject to hydraulic pressure admitted through pipes 24, 14 from a reservoir 13. The space above. the liquid in the reservoir 13 is connected by a pipe 12 and auxiliary valve 8 actuated by outlet pressure acting on a diaphragm 5 either to the inlet 2 through a pipe 11 or to the outlet 3 by pipes 20 and 4. A second auxiliary valve 7 actuated by the diaphragm 5 connects the pipes 14, 24 after the pipe 12 has been connected to one of the pipes 11 or 20. In a modification the main valve is arranged as an axial flow lift valve.
