Abstract

Fluid-actuated valves.-A valve device particularly applicable for use as a by-pass valve used in conjunction with gas holders is adapted to open either with an increase of inlet pressure. or a decrease of outlet pressure and comprises a piston valve connected to a diaphragm or piston acted on by inlet pressure and arranged to work within a ported tubular member controlled by a diaphragm or piston subject to outlet pressure. In the form shown, inlet pressure is admitted through a pipe 12 to the space between a pair of diaphragms 9, 10 connected to the spindle 11 of the piston 5. The spindle 11 passes through the diaphragm 10 and is provided with a loading platform 14 and connected to a balancing diaphragm 21 acted on by outlet pressure .admitted through a pipe 25 wherby the action of the outlet pressure acting on the diaphragm 9 is neutralized. The tubular member 4 which has parts 7, 8 works in a fixed seat 3 and is connected by a spindle 15 fitted with a loading platform 17 to a diaphragm 16 subject to outlet pressure. In a modification the spindle 11 is arranged to pass through the spindle 15 and is acted on by a weighted lever.
