695,942. Valve accessories. YOUNG, W. E. May 16, 1950 [Feb. 18, 1949] No. 4419/49. Class 135 In a tap having a body 3, Fig. 1, with an inlet 3b and an outlet 3c, a block 7 carrying closure members 6 in openings 7a is movable in a chamber 8 to align either member with the actuating spindle 1 and a seat 3a. When the washer 6a of one member is worn, the spindle is retracted and the block is moved to align the other member which is then seated by the spindle. Removable plugs 12, 13 allow access for replacing worn members and the block is moved by a pinion 10, Fig. 2, fixed on a spindle 11 and engaging a rack 9 on the block. The spindle protrudes from the body for operation by a handwheel or lever. The block may be circular and rotatable about an axis displaced from the spindle 1.
