Abstract

877,801. Hinged valves. BOPP & REUTHER G.m.b.H. April 30, 1959 [Sept. 5, 1958], No. 14843/59. Class 135. A flap valve has the flap 3 pivotally attached to a lever 4 on an operating spindle 6 offset from a diameter of the flow bore and spring- biased into contact with a stop surface on the spindle or the lever; the flap is moved against the bias 7 to its seated position and during opening of the valve the spindle 6 and lever 4 are rotated (arcs 8 and 9) to permit the flap to rotate (arc 10) about a point on its seating under the action of the bias until it contacts the stop surface whereafter it rotates about the spindle axis (arcs 12 and 13).
